Policies for transferring credit from other institutions into Northeastern are outlined below by level.

Transfer credit may be available to students who complete advance examinations or college-level courses at an accredited institution. The transfer equivalency database can be used to see how classes can be transferred to Northeastern. Transfer credit rules are retired after five years and re-evaluated as new information becomes available. For courses that do not appear in this database, students may be required to provide a complete course syllabus in order to receive transfer credit.

Official transcripts and exam score reports (such as Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate) should be received prior to matriculation. College course work completed at an international institution must be translated into English and evaluated by a recognized credential agency.

Please refer to the Undergraduate Academic Catalog for comprehensive transfer credit policies and procedures for newly admitted students and matriculated students.

Transfer credits will only be accepted at the discretion of the academic department and the college’s graduate office.

Please refer to the Graduate Academic Catalog for comprehensive transfer credit policies and procedures.

The College of Professional Studies awards transfer credits for eligible courses completed successfully at regionally and programmatically accredited institutions. Official transcripts from all institutions should be sent directly to the College of Professional Studies Office of Admissions at the time of application.

Students should submit an official English evaluation completed by an approved credential evaluator. Course descriptions and/or syllabi also should be translated into English and submitted to the College of Professional Studies Office of Admissions.
