A time ticket indicates when a student is eligible to register for a term. When time ticketing is turned on, all students require a time ticket; when time ticketing is turned off, a student can register at any time if the term is open for registration.

Students can view their time ticket via the student hub:

  • Select the Resources Tab > Academic Classes & Registration > Course Registration
  • Click Prepare for Registration
  • Select the appropriate Term
    • Undergraduate and graduate (non-CPS) terms end with “Semester.”
    • College of Professional Studies ends with “CPS Quarter” (graduate CPS) or “CPS Semester” (undergraduate CPS).
    • Law terms end with “Law Semester”

All undergraduate and graduate students (non-CPS) will be assigned a time ticket for each registration period, which indicates when they will have access to register for classes. Students will not be able to register for classes until the date and time of their time ticket. However, students can search the schedule of classes via the Student Hub three weeks prior to registration and plan their schedules before registration begins.

Time tickets are based on a student’s total earned hours in Banner, current term registrations, and any prior term ungraded study-abroad credits as of the Wednesday before registration. Transfer credit is included in earned hours.

A student’s specific time ticket is available for viewing via the Student Hub the Thursday before registration begins.

If a student receives an error message that says “You do not have a registration time ticket” while attempting to register or drop a class for a term, the student should email [email protected] with their NUID and the term in which they want to make a registration change to be assigned a time ticket.

Students in the College of Professional Studies (CPS) are not restricted by time tickets; they can register at any time after registration opens for a term. Though CPS students do not receive a specified time ticket based on credit hours, active students are assigned a generic time ticket to allow for registration while time ticketing is turned on for undergraduate and graduate (non-CPS) registration.

If a student receives an error message that says “You do not have a registration time ticket” while attempting to register or drop a class for a term, the student should email [email protected] with their NUID and the term in which they want to make a registration change to be assigned a time ticket.
