Intersession Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When are intersession classes meeting?
A: Intersession classes will be taught from January 3 to January 6, 2023.


Q: How can I view the intersession classes that are being offered?
A: Visit Banner and select the term, Spring 2023 Semester. Click “Advanced Search” on the “Browse Classes” page. In the attribute field, choose “Intersession Term Course”. All the Intersession Term offerings will appear.


Q: Will all classes be mandatory in-person, or will we have the option to take them remote so we can spend time with our families over the holidays?
A: Classes are being taught in different modalities. See class schedule to find out details for each. Those that have NUFlex capability are tagged with that attribute.


Q: How many intersession classes can I take?
A: Due to the intensity of the classes, students are recommended to take a maximum of 1credit.


Q: Are the intersession classes part of my spring credit load?
A: Although intersession classes have been administratively assigned to the Spring 2023 semester, those credits will be treated separately in the calculation of your time status for the Spring semester.


Q: Can I register for intersession classes if I am already at my maximum number of credits allowed for the Spring?
A: Yes, but you will need to discuss and obtain a max override to add intersession courses. You are encouraged to discuss this override permission with your academic advisor, prior to intersession registration.


Q: Can Intersession courses satisfy NUPath requirements?
A: No, intersession courses cannot satisfy NUPath requirements.


Q: Do intersession courses require pre-requisites?
A: While most intersession courses do not require prerequisites, you should check the course listing to see if any prerequisites are specified.


Q: How much do intersession courses cost?
A: Intersession classes will have an additional cost per credit and will not be part of any regular Spring 2023 charges. After you register for Intersession the additional costs per credit for those classes will be added to your Spring tuition bill. See Student Financial Services for details.


Q: What is the deadline to drop “Without a W” deadline for the intersession classes and receive a refund?
A: January 3, 2023 at 11:59 PM (EST) is the last day to drop the class without a “W” grade and receive 100% tuition credit, after that date you would be responsible for the full tuition charge.


Q: What is the “Drop with a W” deadline for the intersession classes?
A: January 5, 2023 at 11:59 PM (EST) is the deadline to drop an intersession class with a “W” grade.


Q: Can I graduate after taking intersession classes?
A: Students who complete their degree requirements by taking an intersession course will graduate at the end of the Spring ’23 term, in May.


Q: Can I audit an intersession class?
A: Students are not permitted to audit intersession classes.
